Fishing

Bald Head Island is within close proximity to the Gulf Stream, and there are a number of charter fishing boats which service the area, creating some exceptional North Carolina fishing. For close-to-home fishing, anglers can head to Bald Head's three Atlantic Ocean facing beaches, or a fourth beach which borders the mouth of the Cape Fear River. For pier fishing, head to the marina for a chance to reel in Blues, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Drum, and even King Mackerel. For vacationers who want to try their hand at crabbing or cast netting, the tidal creeks are great places to drop a line. Visitors can even try clamming along the sandbars at low tide, by raking the soft sand and digging up the clams that lie just under the surface.

Bald Head Island even features several freshwater ponds and lagoons for Mouth Bass and Tarpon just be careful of the legendary Bald Head Island alligators, which can sometimes be spotted lounging along the pond borders.
